Hello my name is Derek and I have been studying martial arts for the last 5 years under the instruction of Master Dannio. Presently Instructor Grade in Shaolin Kung Fu and train two to three times a week with Master Dannio in our Academy. I was always interested in the Martial Arts however I devoted a lot of my youth to playing soccer and gaelic football. Having retired from football I have now devoted my time and energy to my Martial Arts training and am currently reaping the physical and meditative benefits of Kung Fu.
I am a qualified social worker and work with the local Health Trust with children and families .This can be a demanding and challenging job but I find that my training in the Martial Arts is a great diversion and stress buster. We curently have a vibrant children's class in our Academy which I assist with.
It is my goal to continue to train to the best of my ability and to learn from Master Dannio and the other students.

Hi my name is Julie and I have been training at the Shaolin Kung Fu Club for 3 years. I currently assist with the coaching and specialise in Shaolin Fitness under the guidance of Master Dannio Alchino.
I was first introduced to martial arts during my student years at Queen’s and achieved purple belt in Ju Jitsu. However, from my childhood my first love has been athletics and continues to be. Throughout the years I have competed at provincial and international level and enjoyed the highs of winning and suffered the lows of injury.
Unfortunately persistent injuries sidelined me for several years and it was during this time I decided to pursue a different approach to rehabilitation by following the Shaolin monk’s methods of strengthening and maintaining flexibility. The results have improved my running performance immensely and so I continue to combine running with Kung Fu as the two compliment one another giving all round strengthen, flexibility and speed work out.
I thought I was reasonably fit until I joined Master Dannio Alchino’s Kung Fu Class! I soon discovered I had so much to learn and practise and even once I have mastered that I find there is always something new and another level – but I enjoy the challenge !
